Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Project Engineer to join our team in the delivery of transportation infrastructure projects. As a Project Engineer, you will work closely with project managers, clients, and other engineers to ensure the successful planning, design, and execution of various transportation projects, including roadways, highways, bridges, transit systems, and related infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, with a focus on transportation design and a commitment to delivering projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with all applicable codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Management Support: Assist in the day-to-day management of transportation projects, ensuring they are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Design & Planning: Assist in the design of transportation infrastructure projects, including roads, highways, intersections, bridges, and transit systems. Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Coordination & Communication: Collaborate with project managers, senior engineers, architects, contractors, and stakeholders to coordinate project tasks and resolve issues that may arise during the design and construction phases.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Ensure that all engineering work is of the highest quality and adheres to project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain project documentation, including technical reports, design drawings, calculations, and progress reports. Assist in the preparation of proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.
- Site Inspections & Field Support: Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress, identify potential issues, and ensure work is being carried out in accordance with design plans.
- Problem Solving: Identify engineering challenges and propose innovative solutions to address project obstacles.
- Client Interaction: Work with clients to gather project requirements, provide project updates, and ensure client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation preferred or actively pursuing licensure.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on transportation projects (roadway, highways, bridges, or transit).
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering design principles, software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D), and industry standards related to transportation projects.
- Familiarity with transportation planning, traffic analysis, and environmental regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to perform site visits and inspections, including fieldwork in various weather conditions.
