Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Property Risk Control Consultant to join our Property Consulting Group. In this role, you will collaborate with colleagues and clients to identify, assess, and manage property risks such as fire, earthquake, flood, and other natural catastrophes.
The ideal candidate should have experience in Highly Protected Risk (HPR) property engineering, including knowledge of NFPA and Factory Mutual standards, as well as familiarity with property insurance policy terms and conditions. You will play a key role in managing relationships with clients, carriers, and insurance brokers, requiring strong communication skills to explain property risk management concepts effectively to both prospective clients and internal teams.
Responsibilities:
Collect and organize Construction, Occupancy, Protection, and Exposure (COPE) data.
Prepare brokerage submission information and data assembly.
Support broker renewals by developing summary documents and attending carrier meetings.
Manage vendor relationships and review risk recommendations.
Conduct property risk control surveys and create underwriting reports for various occupancies.
Perform Natural Catastrophe (Nat Cat) surveys, collecting primary and secondary data for modeling.
Analyze flood exposures using tools in line with NIFP and FEMA guidelines.
Manage vendor RFPs and understand B&M jurisdictional inspection requirements.
Develop and review Maximum Foreseeable Loss (MFL), Probable Maximum Loss (PML), and Normal Loss (NLE) estimates.
Solve technical fire protection issues using Client Standards, NFPA, FM Global, or other best practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
3 to 7 years of experience with a Highly Protected Risk (HPR) insurance carrier or vendor.
Proficiency in NFPA and/or FM Global standards, and evaluating fire protection systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage relationships with clients, insurance carriers, and brokerage teams.
Self-sufficient, organized, and detail-oriented.
Physically able to conduct property inspections, including climbing ladders and accessing various building levels.
Willingness to travel 40-50% of the time within the U.S.
Ability to work from home.
