Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Piping Designer to support a leading shipbuilder in Louisiana. This is a contract opportunity ideal for someone with a strong background in marine piping systems and previous shipyard or shipbuilding experience. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the design, layout, and development of piping systems for various marine vessels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create 2D and 3D piping system designs using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, AVEVA, or similar).
- Develop pipe routing, isometrics, and installation drawings in compliance with marine engineering standards.
- Coordinate with engineers and other designers to ensure system integration and spatial considerations are met.
- Review and revise drawings based on engineering markups and design changes.
- Conduct clash detection and resolve interference issues.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant classification society and regulatory standards (e.g., ABS, USCG).
- Support the fabrication and construction team with technical drawings and on-site design clarification as needed.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a piping designer, with specific experience in shipbuilding or marine environments .
- Proficiency in marine design software such as AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, AVEVA Marine, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of marine piping systems, materials, and shipyard construction processes.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and regulatory guidelines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on commercial or military vessel programs.
- Familiarity with U.S. Navy or offshore vessel standards.
- Associate’s degree or technical diploma in drafting/design or a related field.
