The pharmacy intern performs the functions associated with the receiving, storage, packaging, compounding, dispensing, and billing of medications under the supervision of a pharmacist. All functions performed by the pharmacy intern must be accomplished in such a manner that enables the pharmacist to confirm the accuracy of the function performed. The pharmacy intern also can perform the professional duties of the pharmacist such as patient counseling, drug information, and clinical monitoring if under the immediate, direct, and personal supervision of a pharmacist.
