Our client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Department Head to lead their mechanical engineering team in Houston. This is a true leadership role, requiring an even split between technical engineering work (50%) and administrative management (50%). The ideal candidate will have a Texas PE license, extensive experience in EPC projects, and a strong background in P&IDs, walk downs, and team management.
Key Responsibilities
✅ Lead and manage the mechanical engineering department, overseeing project execution and team development.
✅ Drive engineering excellence through P&ID development, reviews, and walk downs to ensure project accuracy.
✅ Provide strategic direction, mentor engineers, and improve internal processes.
✅ Oversee project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation to meet company objectives.
✅ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and clients for seamless project execution.
✅ Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
Ideal Candidate
✔ Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas – Required.
✔ 7+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with strong EPC project exposure.
✔ Proven leadership and management experience, with the ability to develop and guide engineering teams.
✔ Strong expertise in P&IDs, walk downs, and mechanical system design.
✔ Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and project management skills.
✔ Strong communication and interpersonal abilities for team and client interaction.
