Job Description

We are hiring for a Materials & Logistics Manager to oversee inventory planning, internal logistics, and supply chain operations for a high-volume production and distribution facility. This leadership role is responsible for managing end-to-end materials management—including inventory control, ordering, receiving, storage, and internal distribution—ensuring alignment with operational goals and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Supply Chain Management

  • Lead short-term planning and daily execution of materials management activities
  • Ensure timely procurement and flow of food and beverage items in alignment with customer specifications
  • Optimize inventory levels to support just-in-time delivery and efficient cash flow
  • Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance (USDA, FDA, HACCP, OSHA, Customs)
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean process implementation
  • Monitor and report on department performance; initiate corrective actions as needed

Inventory & Logistics Oversight

  • Supervise ordering, receiving, and storage processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Implement controls to maintain inventory integrity and reduce usage variances
  • Manage compliance of inbound goods with documentation, customs, and bonded storage requirements
  • Analyze product usage, yields, and billing variances to identify root causes and corrective actions

Leadership & Team Development

  • Direct and develop a team responsible for materials handling and inventory control
  • Motivate staff and ensure appropriate staffing, scheduling, and training
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
  • Promote values-based leadership and ensure department goals align with broader organizational objectives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5–7 years of relevant experience in inventory/materials management, preferably in food manufacturing, logistics, or related industries
  • 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Deep knowledge of supply chain operations, inventory management, and vendor coordination
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; SAP MM or similar ERP system experience a plus
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
  • Experience leading process improvements, change initiatives, and Lean practices
