Job Description

Summary

We are seeking a Manual Machinist to join our dynamic team within our Spearhead Industries division. In this role, you will be responsible for operating manual machining equipment to produce high-quality components for our pumping units. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring that we maintain our reputation for precision and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates special purpose equipment, conventional manual lathe and or manual mill, and similar machining equipment for fabrication of metallic and nonmetallic parts that hold to the high-quality machine standards required within the organization.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as required.
  • Stand or walk for a minimum of 3.5 hours and up to 12 hours without being able to sit and while wearing steel-toed boots.
  • Occasionally climb steep stairs and be able to lift and carry 50 pounds independently up and down stairs.
  • Lift and carry independently 50 pounds while walking on uneven surfaces
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, twist and crawl throughout the work shift.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools to perform a range of mechanical oriented functions including independent use of heavy-duty handled and long handled tools.
  • Clear vision to judge near and far distances to maintain awareness of watch and report ongoing work activities to coworkers and third parties.
  • Listen for unusual noises that signify equipment and machinery problems
  • Maintain spatial orientation and awareness to safely move around work environment with many moving objects
  • Demonstrate clear communication skills and ability to promptly follow directions
  • Stay alert and focused throughout work shift.
  • Take initiative and work independently during downtime.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times.
  • Be on time for all company events, training, safety meetings, special assignments, and regular shifts.
  • Keep and maintain a clean work environment, this includes all locations, work sites, company vehicles, and customer locations.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a manual machinist or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes and techniques.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Experience with hand tools and basic assembly techniques.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
