Legal Counsel - Real Estate
Our Client is seeking a skilled and business-minded Legal Counsel - Real Estate to join their in-house legal team at a leading energy company. This role will support a wide range of real estate transactions and legal matters critical to the development, operation, and expansion of their energy infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in general real estate law.
Legal Counsel - Real Estate, Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of real estate agreements, including purchase and sale agreements, leases, easements, licenses, and access agreements.
- Support real estate transactions related to site acquisition, development, and property management across the company’s portfolio.
- Conduct and coordinate due diligence, including title and survey review, zoning analysis, and environmental assessments.
- Advise internal stakeholders on land use, permitting, and regulatory compliance matters affecting real estate assets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including development, construction, operations, and environmental to support real estate needs across the business.
- Manage outside counsel on real estate transactions and land-related disputes.
- Assist with real estate aspects of broader corporate initiatives, including M&A, divestitures, and infrastructure projects.
- Maintain and update real estate documentation and ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable laws.
Legal Counsel - Real Estate, Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active bar membership in good standing.
- 3+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably with a mix of law firm and in-house experience.
- Strong knowledge of commercial real estate law, with experience in land use, permitting, and infrastructure development.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
