Assistant Lab Technician
- Location: San Diego, CA 92121
- Pay range: $30-$32/hr. on W2
- Duration: Contract to hire
- Shift: 2nd Shift, 3:00pm – 11:30pm
Job Summary:
Provide critical lab support, including automation operations, instrument maintenance, inventory management, and lab sanitation. Operate liquid handlers and ensure compliance with SOPs and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain liquid handlers (Hamilton, Biomek) for mRNA expression and transfection workflows.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Manage inventory, order consumables, and restock lab supplies.
- Handle biohazardous waste disposal and maintain lab cleanliness.
- Prepare simple solutions and support lab automation processes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Associate’s Degree in Science/Engineering + 1-2 years lab experience, OR
- High School Diploma + 3-5 years lab experience.
Must-Have Skills:
- Experience with lab management systems & electronic lab notebooks.
- Knowledge of lab safety practices & aseptic techniques.
- Familiarity with automated lab equipment & liquid handlers (Biomek, Hamilton).
- Strong hand pipetting skills and pharmaceutical lab experience.
- Excellent customer service & communication skills.
- Ability to work independently after training.
Technology Requirements:
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel).
