INTERIOR DESIGN INSTRUCTOR – Multiple Openings!

Revit, Adobe Suite, AutoCAD, Portfolio Capstone, Business & Entrepreneurship, Fundamentals of Interior Design

Seeking Part-time Instructors for a growing Private Career School, offered under an independent contractor agreement. Teaching across multiple courses could result in full-time salary equivalence.

Instructional Days and Times Vary by Subject but are during the work day – Typically between the hours of 9am-5pm

Job Responsibilities

● Instruct students in person, up to three terms per year between September and July.

● Prepare class materials and exercises around approved curriculum to ensure student achievement of learning objectives as well as student engagement and satisfaction.

● Teach and lead each designated course session, providing guidance and assistance to students on all projects and assignments.

● Measure and grade student comprehension of all projects and assignments against learning objectives, using progress reports.

● Maintain and improve all current curriculum content, presentation and instructional materials based on collaboration with the Executive Director and as measured by student performance, feedback and direct observation.

● Administer and grade tests and quizzes and provide leadership, feedback and critique on student final project presentations.

● Work with the Executive Director to help ensure teaching strategies meet overall learning and business objectives.

● Stay current in relevant subject matter through professional development, involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conferences, workshops.

● Learn and use technology to enhance teaching and educational experience when appropriate.

Minimum Work Experience/Qualifications

● Must be eligible to be approved as an instructor by Texas Workforce Commission

● Knowledge of adult learning principles with experienced application

● Excellent verbal communication and strong presentation skills

● Ability to organize and communicate with a high attention to detail

● Substantial working knowledge of assigned subject matter and willingness to learn what is not familiar:

Interior Design process, principles & elements of design, space planning, kitchen & bath design, history of furniture, design products and materials, socially responsible design, professional practice considerations

Preferred Work Experience/Qualifications

● Combined residential and commercial interior design experience

● Subject matter expert on assigned subject to be taught

Job Type: Part-time – Full-time (Note: Instructing across multiple courses could result in full-time salary equivalency)

Stipend per term: $880.00 - $18,720 - Varies by Course Being Taught – Three Terms Per Year

Schedule:

● Instructional hours vary per week; Hours per week paid for Course Preparation, Office Hours, and Grading.
