Human Resources Director – Direct Hire Opportunity
Location: Minneapolis, MN (Onsite)
Schedule: Standard hours 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, some flexibility
A long-standing, multi-division organization with deep local roots is seeking a strategic and experienced HR Director to lead a well-established human resources function. This is a hands-on leadership role with high visibility across the organization and direct influence on company culture, operations, and employee experience.
Position Overview:
This HR Director will oversee a team of four HR professionals across talent acquisition, employee relations, benefits, and coordination. The ideal candidate will bring broad HR expertise, including union experience, and will act as a business partner to senior leadership. This role reports directly to the CFO and will have a seat at the table with operational leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and support a team of HR professionals including recruitment, benefits, ER, and HR coordination functions.
- Employee Relations: Serve as the expert on performance management, investigations, coaching, and compliance matters.
- Union Relations: Represent the company in labor relations and grievance matters; prior experience negotiating and interpreting contracts preferred.
- Compensation & Benefits: Partner with the internal benefits lead to manage compensation practices and benefits administration.
- Strategic Partnership: Work closely with senior leaders to align HR initiatives with broader organizational goals.
- Policy & Compliance: Ensure adherence to labor laws and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, ADA, AWAIR); proactively manage policy development and updates.
- Training & Development: Lead internal development efforts and support ongoing leadership training, wellness, and DEI initiatives.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with 5+ in a Director or Sr. Manager role
- Proven experience with full-scope HR leadership including labor relations and compliance
- Strong generalist background—comfortable advising on everything from PTO policy to state leave regulations
- Experience managing teams and influencing cross-functional leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related; certifications such as SHRM-CP/SCP preferred
- HR tech experience, ideally with systems like UKG Pro and ATS platforms
- Previous work in multi-location is a plus
Compensation: $100,000–$120,000 annually
