Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterile Pharmacy Technician registered in the State of Florida to join our team. This role involves working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to prepare sterile and non-sterile compounded medications. The ideal candidate will be a team player who maintains accuracy while meeting productivity goals.
Note: You do not have to have sterile compounding experience, but must be open to extensive training.
Key Responsibilities
General Pharmacy Duties:
- Prepare, package, and label medications for dispensing in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Affix labels on prescription containers accurately and in compliance with legal requirements.
- Retrieve, select, and return medications to proper storage locations.
- Input prescription and patient data into the pharmacy’s computer system (with final verification by a pharmacist).
- Contact prescribers for refill authorizations (no changes to prescriptions allowed).
- Record patient and medication data for pharmacist review.
- Prepackage and label multi-dose and unit-dose medications under established procedures.
Compounding Responsibilities:
- Assist with compounding of non-sterile and sterile medications following established protocols:
- Reconstitution of non-injectable medications (may include multiple additives).
- Bulk compounding for large-volume internal or external use.
- Preparation of parenteral products:
- Draw up or prepare ingredients under pharmacist supervision.
- Reconstitute and prepare unit doses for administration.
- Pharmacist must perform the final product verification and additions.
