We are partnered with a residential construction company to find a hands-on, forward-thinking Director of Residential Construction to lead day-to-day operations across all homebuilding projects. This critical leadership role will serve as the President’s right hand, overseeing construction execution, ensuring quality standards, and building a strong, high-performing team.

This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated construction leader with solid field experience and business acumen, who is looking to grow into a long-term leadership role within a collaborative, growth-oriented company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all active residential construction projects, each managed by a superintendent and support team
  • Manage project scheduling, site coordination, quality control, and warranty service to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery
  • Partner with the President on operations planning and company growth initiatives
  • Review site plans, budgets, construction schedules, and monitor field progress
  • Ensure field teams are accountable for performance, compliance, and timeline goals
  • Support hiring, training, and development of construction personnel
  • Act as a liaison between office and field teams to drive communication and issue resolution
  • Promote a culture of professionalism, safety, and continuous improvement
  • Help review and improve internal construction processes
  • Occasionally assist in reviewing estimates

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business, or related field)
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in residential construction, including at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of the homebuilding process, including site development and field coordination
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, schedules, and field staff simultaneously
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Comfortable working in an office-based role with regular site visits within the Hampton Roads area
  • Ambition for long-term leadership growth and close collaboration with executive leadership
