Job Description

Position Summary

The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is an advocate for the residents and staff to foster high standards of care. He/ she ensures that each resident receives the necessary care to attain and maintain optimum levels of well-being. The Director of Nursing counsels nurse supervisors and managers and works collaboratively with the Licensed Nursing Home Administration (LNHA) as the clinical partner.

Essential Functions

  • Assures nursing structure supports clinical and administrative standards that will support the facility to achieve its mission and remain in regulatory compliance
  • Implements facility's systems, processes, and programs to ensure clinical competency of all nursing staff
  • Participates in the facility's quality assurance performance improvement process by analyzing outcomes, identifying trends and developing action plans.
  • Communicates and collaborates with the Medical Director, attending and consulting physicians, ancillary and service departments, and contracted resources.
  • Advocates for and assists with smooth transitions of care from one setting to another through effective communication and discharge planning activities
  • Manage the nursing budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and cost control. Monitor and evaluate nursing performance metrics to drive quality improvement initiatives.

  • Strong clinical skills.
  • Intimate knowledgeable of applicable federal, state and other regulations, including state specific clinical practice acts.
  • Knowledge and ability to follow regulations, policies and guidelines.

Qualifications

Education

Graduate of accredited school of nursing, BSN or MSN preferred.

Licenses/Certification

Valid RN license in the state employed.

Valid CPR certification.

DNS-CT or CDONA, optional.

Valid driver's license.

Experience

3-5 years successful experience as a Director of Nursing or equivalent position in long-term care facility preferred

Compensation details: 36-55 Hourly Wage
