This organization specializes in providing world-class research and data on global gold, silver, platinum, and palladium markets, with offices in key locations worldwide.
The Role
Our client seeks a skilled ASM Mining Analyst to join its mining research team. The role centers on data collection and analysis within the precious metals mining sector, with a particular focus on Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining (ASGM). This position contributes to enhancing transparency and accuracy in ASGM production figures while engaging with global stakeholders.
The Responsibilities
Support the mining team through the collection of mining and hedging data.
Analyse and interpret data to produce written research on the precious metals market.
Attend industry events/conferences as required, which may involve travel to global destinations.
Establish and maintain good relationships with key industry contacts.
Assist in the production of our written publications and presentations for seminars, conferences, and clients.
Engage in research to estimate global and country-level ASGM gold production using a combination of sources such as import/export data, NGO reports, and industry contacts.
Depending on travel restrictions, travel to countries and regional ASGM hubs to meet with contacts and establish new connections.
Commentary on cross-border movements of gold from ASGM sites up to initial refining, including official export statistics and inferred non-official exports.
Commentary on country tax/royalty regimes impacting ASGM production and trade flows.
The Requirements
Degree-level education in Earth Science, Economics, or a related field.
Strong analytical, quantitative, and logical reasoning skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Ability to work independently and in a team, managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
Willingness to travel internationally and develop industry contacts.
Desired Skills and Experience
Fluency in other languages, preferably Spanish.
Knowledge of global commodity and financial markets.
Mining industry experience or financial modelling skills.
Proficiency with Adobe InDesign and Illustrator.
