Do you have 3+ years' experience with nonprofit operations including administrative or financial management?

We are currently in search of an Accounting Assistant for a Science Museum. The position is part-time, in-person in San Francisco, CA. This is a temporary, part-time assignment in San Francisco, CA.

ORGANIZATION TYPE: Science Museum

LOCATION: In-Person (San Francisco, CA)

POSITION TITLE: Accounting Assistant

SCHEDULE: 25-30 hours/week

DURATION: Temporary, ~3 months

HOURLY PAY: $28.00-$30.00/hour

Is This Your Dream Job: The Accounting Assistant will provide support to the Bookkeeper and Executive Director with gift processing, payroll and other general administrative and financial duties as needed to maintain core operational functions of the museum.

Our Ideal Candidate:
•3+ years' experience with nonprofit operations
•Experience with payroll and onboarding a plus
•Experience with gift processing CRM and membership databases (i.e. Salesforce, Activenet), a plus
•Able to work onsite
•Able to work around children and pass a background check
•Proficient with Microsoft Office skills; especially excel
•Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
•Accuracy with work, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.

How You Will Spend Your Day:

General Office Support
•Answer phones, take messages and follow up as necessary.
•Processing daily incoming mail

Accounting/Financial Support
•Process incoming online and check-based memberships and donations and payments from events and partners, record in designated excel workbooks, add or direct additions to designated databases (Activenet, Salesforce), create and file hard copy back up. Make weekly bank deposit.
•Count, log cash and cc income from donation boxes, train rentals and retail, record in designated excel workbooks, create and file hard copy.
•Process reimbursements for employee expenses (e.g. class materials). Collect and organize receipts, assign accounting codes, and entering into designated workbook.
•Process monthly credit card, including adding receipts, enter into workbook and create cover sheet.
•Process other invoices, including from independent contractors and other services received by RMF.
•File documents needed for annual Audit.
•Conduct end of month reconciliation of bank statement and online reports.
•Help manage end of fiscal year to new fiscal year transition, including July payment reconciliation with RPD partner.

Payroll & Human Resources
•Collect combined timesheets/payroll and or check requests. Convey to Bookkeeper and file back-up hard copy.
•Onboard 30-40 temporary employees via timely process of email communications to collect required paperwork. Initiate enrollment in online payroll system (Gusto) and initiate background check process. File digital back-up copies of W-4s.
