What are we looking for in our Accountant?

Our client, a global company, is seeking an Accountant on a hybrid basis.

Location: Saint Louis, MI 63101 / Minneapolis, MN 55402 (Hybrid – 3 days in office)

Duration: 6+ Months contract with extensions.

Pay: 35 - 40 per hour DOE

 

Top 3 MUST HAVE skills or experience required:

A candidate with knowledge of GAAP/accounting/reporting, proficiency in excel, and someone who can work independently.
Preferred experience or skills would you like to see but not a deal breaker: Previous accounting experience is obviously a must. Someone who has prepared journal entries or prepared financial statements is also something preferable. We have noticed that individuals who have worked in public accounting have picked on assigned work much faster than those without the public accounting background. A strong understanding of excel is something else that is really required.
Minimum education requirements: Usually, a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or 5 or more years of experience in financial accounting activities.
There is a chance that the individual could go from temporary to permanent. The department offers flexible work schedule, open communication between employees and managers, recognition for good work, group activities around holidays and some just to have, and opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities :

- Maintains adequate accounting and control for various accounting functions.
- Prepares journal entries.
- Assists with regulatory reporting as needed.
- Prepares financial statements and reports.
- Maintains and supports development of automated accounting systems, controls, and procedures.
- Prepares and develops reports for management and/or for regulatory authorities.
- Responds to inquiries regarding accounting policies, procedures, and issues from management, external auditors, and regulatory authorities.

Basic Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent work experience.
- Five or more years of experience in financial accounting activities.
